NEMA 2 Enclosure

The NEMA 2 rating applies to indoor electrical enclosures with moisture protection features. NEMA 2 enclosures resist:

• Dirt and debris
• Light dust
• Dripping water and oils
• Minor splashes
• Ambient moisture

NEMA 2 enclosures are fitted with drip shields to protect electrical components from falling or splashing water in high-condensation environments, such as cooling rooms or washrooms. Models with locking doors are good for access control and tamper prevention.

Moisture can cause significant damage to electrical components, control systems, and electronic parts:

Steel provides heavy-duty protection in areas with a high risk of impacts. CRS is also relatively inexpensive, allowing you to customize enclosures while still keeping overall costs down. However, bare steel requires a galvanizing coating, powder-coat finish, or protective paint layer due to rust vulnerability.

NEMA 2-rated enclosures are a good fit for industrial areas where indirect moisture exposure or ambient moisture is a concern, such as automotive repair bays and manufacturing centers, consumer goods processing plants, wastewater treatment plants, and alternative power generation facilities.
