NEMA 1 enclosures
Indoor enclosures designed for a degree of protection against contact with enclosed equipment and a limited amount of falling dirt

Enclosures for indoor use, providing a degree of protection against limited amounts of falling water or dirt
NEMA 3 Enclosures

NEMA 13 Enclosures
Indoor enclosures designed to provide a degree of protection against lint, dust seepage, external condensation, spraying of water, oil / non-corrosive liquids.
International Protection (IP) Ratings
The IP rating system classifies the degree of protection from solid objects and liquids afforded by electrical equipment and enclosures. This rating system is most prevalently recognized in European countries and meets a number of British and European standards, including those established by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission).
In the IP rating system, the first number identifies the degree of protection against solid objects and the second number identifies the degree of protection against liquids.
